Dubai is like some sort of modern version of a gold rush town....except without any gold mines...
And just like any boom town it collapses into ruin in time.
Driven down by debt, Dubai expats give new meaning to long-stay car park
I can just imagine parking lots filled with abandoned luxury autos, encrusted in sand like some sort of Ballardesque daydream.
Sun, sea and sewage in the playground of the rich in Dubai
It is so typical of humans to spend all sorts of attention on sexy projects like glass skyscrapers rising out of the water and almost nothing on real world issues like "where do we put all the feces excreted by all these pseudo-wealthy bread heads."
50 or maybe 100 years from now Dubai could end up being the sand version of Atlantis.
How many new Atlantis's are going to be created during my life time?
I can think of 3:
Dubai
Venice
New Orleans
I'm sure there are others....Detroit maybe.
